Our Story
Our meeting was serendipitous. We had both decided last minute to attend the Emergency Medical Service conference in Ocean Shores Washington. I was attending the conference with a friend who had attended recruit school with Gary. This friend being a firefighter and always playing jokes on others wanted to put Gary on the spot since he knew Gary was a poor dancer he convincingly asked me as favor to ask Gary to dance…I thought sure, why not?
So there we were dancing to bad 70s music and talking about rhythm. I mentioned I had recently gained a better understanding of rhythm while learning to play the piano. He told me that he would like to have a piano for his autistic son. And as it turned out I was looking for a home for my piano. I was soon leaving to volunteer in Guatemala for year.
A couple of months and emails later, we meet to move the 1920s upright piano to Gary’s house. The morning we met up we started talking and before we realized it 3 hours passed. He is still the one person that I can talk to for hours. The day after we moved the piano, I took a chance and invited him out for a margarita to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Just an excuse to meet again. As Gary states he is good guy but no angel so he accepted my invitation. After that night we have been inseparable. Months later I decide to put Guatemala on hold. I moved in with Gary, got my piano back along with the love of my life and some of the most amazing boys I know.
